According to the gospel of Matthew, sages from the East came to Jerusalem seeking the child. They had observed a new star rising and followed it to find the newborn king of the Jews. The word epiphany means “manifestation” or “sudden appearing.”
On Sunday, January 5th, star gifts were handed out in church. If you didn’t receive one, there will be star words on the tables where our bulletins are placed each week. A star gift is simply a star-shaped piece of paper [you can certainly jazz it up – glitter anyone ?!?] with a word printed on it. You are invited/ asked to reflect on that word for the coming year.
Talk with people about your star …. Share with each other ….

Keep it close – a bedside table – the refrigerator – in 2019 I kept mine in my car …
These words are designed to offer a lens to guide us to see other roads in our faith journeys. The hope is that, inspired by the Holy Spirit, God will be at work in each through our word, helping us to experience Christ in new ways in 2020.
Following the star led the Magi, and leads us still today, unexpected places.
