This is the time of year to think about gardening, and who better to get advice from than Ed Lawrence himself!  Whether your dahlias are drooping, your maples moping, or your grass has grubs, Ed Lawrence has all the answers!

Recently retired after 30 years of outstanding achievement in the field of Canadian horticulture, Ed Lawrence's tenure as Chief Horticultural Specialist to six consecutive Governors General spanned a period of vice-regal history dating from Jules Leger in the 1970s to Adrienne Clarkson in 2005.

Winchester United Church will be hosting a spring concert "Spring Into Song" in support of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank on Sunday April 17th at 2:00 pm.

“Spring Into Song” is an initiative of Canadian Foodgrains Bank (In 2014-2015, helping 1.1 million people in 39 countries - food assistance, agriculture programs, etc.) and Musiklus with generous support by the Government of Canada. It is a highly accessible work comprised of music, narration, and projected images all linked by a common thematic thread of justice and the goal of ending hunger. The music requires minimal rehearsal commitments with maximum satisfaction for singers and musicians.
 
Participation in “Spring Into Song” will support the Canadian Foodgrains Bank’s Good Soil advocacy campaign to help small-scale farmers around the world. Funds raised at concerts will go to projects that help farmers receive training and support to better their lives. Donations to this program will receive additional financial support on a matching basis from the Government of Canada, through the Global Affairs Canada.
 
In 2012-13, Ron Klusmeier and Christina Bogucki of Musiklus offered their Tour of a Lifetime, with concerts to benefit Canadian Foodgrains Bank. They presented 126 concerts from coast to coast in support of ending global hunger. They have designed “Spring Into Song” as a new opportunity for Canadians to support the work of Canadian Foodgrains Bank for 2016, based on the music of Ron Klusmeier.

The House of Lazarus will be hosting a Chili Dinner on Saturday, April 2 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Winchester Lions Hall - 515 Albert Street.  There's much more that chili going on though!  Here's a summary:
