Just in time for the election day, reconstruction began at Winchester United Church on Oct 19th 2015. The east gable wall which collapsed following an earth tremor 2 years ago is now being rebuilt. It has been a long and winding journey but we are underway. The reconstruction is expected to take a total of 4 weeks. There will be additional preparatory work done on the bell tower at this same time. The church is now in a vigorous fund raising campaign for the future remediation phases and anyone wishing to donate can do so in care of Winchester United Church in trust with the Ault and Ault law firm in Winchester. |
The contract to begin this remediation has been signed and we expect the work to begin the 3rd week of October to rebuild the east gable wall and to wrap the bell tower in fabric as a proactive step to safeguard the public. This work is expected to take about 3 weeks to complete.
The remediation also requires that 2 additional phases of work take place and the funds must be raised in order to proceed with these additional steps. You are encouraged to participate in this fundraising initiative by donating to the Winchester United Remediation Project trust fund managed by Ault & Ault Law office. Until further notice the bell at the church cannot be rung for any reason. We have been advised it is not safe until the remediation work has been completed. If you have any questions please talk to David, Harvey or Bruce.
